There was a mouthwatering contest between Midlands and Workington in Betfred League One at the weekend, with a Sully Medworth penalty snatching a draw for his side.
Tries from Matty Hanley and Ellis Hobson helped the Hurricanes into a 10-6 half-time lead.
Medworth then put his side further in front with an individual effort in the 54th minute.
Workington fought back to lead with the help of Jamie Doran and Jake Carter tries, but a successful Sully penalty three minutes from time would ensure a point each.
Meanwhile, Rochdale and Swinton continued their winnings start in Round 2 with respective wins over Cornwall and Newcastle.
The Hornets ran in 13 tries against the Choughs on home soil, with Lameck Juma, Luke Forber and Dan Nixon all helping themselves to three tries apiece.
Meanwhile, the Lions racked up nine tries on the road against Thunder.
There was a lively encounter at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds in Goole, with Dewsbury Rams eventually taking the spoils.
Dewsbury’s Tommy Brierley opened the scoring after 15 minutes, finishing off a slick pass from Dan Coates to touch down in the corner.
Moments later, Callum Jordan strolled over, stretching Dewsbury’s lead to 10-0, with veteran forward Dale Ferguson leading from the front.
Goole hit back; however, with Tyler Craig’s try next to the posts.
Rams winger Liam Copland then struck twice within the first ten minutes of the half, extending the lead to 22-6.
Again, the Vikings would respond through Thomas Minns twice to reduce the deficit to six points.
Finally, Whitehaven claimed their first home win of the campaign with a victory over Keighley Cougars.
Haven were always leading throughout with three tries on the afternoon, including wonderful solo score from Jay Weatherill.
